A number of notable environmental prosecutions have been successfully undertaken by the Environment Agency:-
BVH Limited of Alma Crescent, Birmingham, was fined £70,000 and its Director, Kenneth Paul Morris, of Hams Road, Birmingham, was fined £35,000 for storing and treating excessive quantities of hazardous chemical waste. They were also ordered to pay costs of £15,000 and £30 victim surcharge.
Donoghue Recycling Ltd was fined £30,000 and ordered to pay costs of £5,374 for continually storing waste at two unregistered sites at sites in Ladysmith Road, Grimsby and Pelham Road, Cleethorpes.
Ambala Foods Limited, of Watchmead, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, was fined £14,000 and ordered to pay £3,712 prosecution costs causing polluting matter to enter a tributary of the River Colne in 2008.
